AMS Connection Types

AMS samplers use either a Signature Series, Threaded, or Quick Connect connection type. When ordering AMS sampling equipment, please make sure the connection types of those products match if you intend to use them together. So, if you are ordering a cross handle, extensions, and an auger head, please make sure that they all share the same connection type. A Signature Series cross handle will work with Signature Series extensions and a Signature Series head, but a Signature Series cross handle will not be able to connect to an extension that uses a Threaded or a Quick Connect connection. Signature Series Connection

Featuring a heavier thread design, the AMS Signature Series connection simply enhanced the already trusted AMS threaded connection. The Signature Series features zinc coated extensions to improve rust resistance as well as a larger capacity auger with no weld or grind marks for easy decontamination. The Signature Series thread design is available on a variety of AMS regular, mud, dutch and sand augers, cross handles, extensions, core samplers, slide hammers and adapters. And, two of our most popular samplig kits, the basic soil sampling kit and mini soil sampling kit, are also available with the signature series connection type.

Features:

• Heavier thread design.
• Connection and disassembly with 2 1/2 turns.
• Fast connection speed without risk of galling.

Threaded Connection

Similar in form to a nuts and bolts system, the AMS threaded connection is reliable and simple to use. Available in two sizes: 1) a 5/8" thread for the majority of soil auger diameters, and 2) a 3/4" thread for soil augers with diameters of 6" and 7".

Quick Connnect Connection

Quick Connect Connection AMS Quick Connect offers a fast connect and disconnect attachment for all augers. The unique button and hex coupling connectors allow augers, cross handles and extensions to connect and disconnect faster than the AMS threaded connections.

Features:

• Fast, positive push–to–lock and easy disconnect.
• Finger ring for AMS Quick Connect button depression included.
• Allows rotation in either direction.
• Available in cast carbon steel and stainless steel (SST). Note: Fittings will always be carbon steel.

Note: The Quick Connect system is not designed to work with slide hammers, which are necessary for soil core sampler applications.
