Advertising Director
The Advertising Director will conceptualize, design, and produce sales, marketing, and communications materials for internal and external use. Candidates must have excellent creative skills and use a wide range of design tools and experience to deliver a variety of solutions to customers, partners, and internal marketing teams.
The primary focus of this position is to develop comprehensive advertising materials, including campaign plans, media plans, budgets, schedules, branding objectives, and methods for creating materials, as well as methods to measure and monitor results. The director will design, create, and maintain brand-consistent promotional materials, including catalogs, brochures, fliers, post cards, trade show displays, magazine ads, marketing packets, multimedia presentations, etc. The director will manage the company website, develop web improvements, monitor analytical data, and provide reports to management. The director also produces press releases for a variety of trade publications in the environmental, drilling, agricultural, and other related industries. The individual will research competitors and analyze their advertising and marketing to develop superior strategies, which drive communications and sales. He/she will also manage contact lists and customer databases for direct mailings and email marketing campaigns.
The candidate must demonstrate an ability to develop, implement, and manage integrated advertising, marketing, and communications campaigns that improve sales and brand performance. The position requires a bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of experience in the field. Salary is commensurate with experience level and the position includes a competitive benefits package.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, execute, and analyze comprehensive, integrated advertising, marketing, and public relations campaigns.
- Prepare budgets and cost estimates for campaigns.
- Research, plan, negotiate, and schedule media buys and placements.
- Provide strategic communications insight that are creative and sophisticated.
- Participate in marketing and merchandising planning and problem solving sessions.
- Develop and maintain a Style Guide to standardize communications and ensure brand consistency in all print and digital designs.
- Create graphics, user interfaces, icons, style sheets, color schemes, and templates for use in print, web, and mobile projects.
- Design distinctive logos for product lines, and develop signs and signage systems.
- Design advertisements, catalogs, brochures, fliers, postcards, displays, packaging, and other materials.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the entire design process, from conceptualization through to production.
- Prepare design files for print, and review proofs with acute attention to detail within demanding deadlines.
- Design web graphics, organize web page layouts, enhance web functionality, and add new features.
- Manage, analyze, and improve company E-Commerce development strategy.
- Manage website content and social media profiles to ensure the accuracy and currency of information.
- Analyze web navigation and layout based on usability studies and user observations.
- Scrutinizes the website for errors and performance issues (script errors, broken hyperlinks, missing pages etc.).
- Optimize web designs, layouts, and organization to ensure site accessibility and usability, and to improve search engine optimization.
- Responsible for creating new code, text, and graphic content for web pages using various software applications.
- Responsible for supporting existing content by manipulating graphics and/or code.
- Develop and implement comprehensive search engine marketing strategies.
- Provides first-level website user support to both internal and external clients.
- Plan and develop various interactive media and multimedia projects.
- Provide PowerPoint and Flash support for presentations.
- Manage engaging online advertising campaigns, and monitor web analytics and organic search results.
- Monitor site traffic and web usage data, and review analytics to provide performance reports and related insights.
- Ensure security of all web sites and related applications.
- Ensure all print and web designs are easy to maintain, revise, and expand.
- Work with non-technical users to understand and document requirements.
- Understand current and emerging web technologies, as well as device and browser compatibility issues.
- Ensure all elements, templates, and finished solutions work within a variety of browser types and screen settings.
- Identify, recommend, and develop new web features and applications, including writing code and documentation.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with existing websites and web applications.
- Manage e-mail marketing database, as well as develop and expand industry specific mailing lists.
- Produce online newsletters, and develop trackable e-mail marketing campaigns.
- Shoot photographs, and produce video materials for TV and the web.
- Upload and embed video – including video tracking implementation.
- Draft and edit press releases, and send materials to key media contacts for publication.
- Organize and maintain comprehensive file archives for digital graphics and copy files for all products.
- Expand promotional efforts into new markets and industries.

Minimum Skill Requirements:
- Working knowledge of Mac OS and Windows Vista.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Epicore Vantage preferred.
- Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Fireworks, Illustrator, InDesign, AcrobatPro, Dreamweaver, and Flash, as well as ColdFusion, and other industry products.
- Proficient with HTML/XHTML, CSS, Javascript, JQuery, ActionScript 2.0/3.0, PHP, XML, AJAX, DOM, RSS, etc.
- Expert knowledge of SEO principles, Google Analytics, AdWords, and Merchant.
- Strong understanding of UI / UX (user interface and user experience) issues.
- Experience with website content management systems.
- Knowledge of emerging web technologies, cross-browser compatibilities, and other web-related constraints.
- Experience optimizing video and animation for the web.
- Strong understanding of e-mail marketing and database systems.
- Experience with FTP servers and connection methods.
- Extensive knowledge of internet and website design best practices, standards, protocol and security methods.
- Experience producing technical and marketing web content.
- Familiarity with video implementation on websites.
- Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Understanding of design principles and information architecture.
- Experience creating exceptional digital brand experiences.
- Knowledge of the latest techniques and current aesthetics in web and print design.
- Excellent communication, problem solving, grammar, writing, proofing, and organizational skills.
- Experience with strategic brainstorming, campaign development and creative execution.
- Facility with quantitative analysis, a strong eye for detail, and a strategic mindset combined with sound business judgement.
- Must be team-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of work in a team environment or independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to think creatively and justify concepts to stakeholders and team members.
Education / Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in advertising, marketing, or communications.
- Four to six years of professional experience in graphic design and web development.
- Experience with E-Commerce content management platforms preferred.
