Environmental consultants, engineering firms, and researchers in the environmental industry use AMS products for a variety of sampling, testing, and monitoring needs.

Many AMS items commonly used for environmental sampling, testing, and monitoring are listed below.

  • Environmental Cross Handles
    Environmental Cross Handles
AMS Cross Handles are connected to AMS extensions – which are then connect to AMS augers and other samplers.   AMS 18in and 22in rubber-coated handles are made of chromoly and are coated with textured rubber. The 18in rubber-coated handles are available with signature series, 3/4in threaded, 5/8in threaded, and quick connect connections. 22in models are only available with a 3/4in threaded connection, and are only intended for use with AMS 6in and 7in augers. Ratcheting handles are available with signature series, 3/4in threaded, 5/8in threaded, and quick connect fittings. They are made of durable carbon steel, and have an open-gear mechanism that allows for easy cleaning of the gear and cog. Quick connect ratcheting handles allow for reverse ratcheting.   The AMS Hammer Head Cross Handle lets you pound your soil sampling device into the ground with an impact-absorbing hammer. AMS Slide Hammers are also used to pound AMS probes and core samplers into soils and sediments.   **NOTE: Scratch & Dent Items have limited quantities. Discounts available while supplies last. Please call to confirm availability.   Please make sure any AMS samplers you intend to use together share a common connection type. See Connection Types for more information.
  • Environmental Extensions
    Environmental Extensions
The welded fittings by AMS craftsmen on all extensions offer maximum strength and torque resistance. Signature Series in yellow zinc coated chrome molybdenum for added rust resistance. Threaded Extensions in either chrome molybdenum or stainless steel. Quick Connect Extensions also in chrome molybdenum or stainless steel. Please make sure your extensions utilize the same connection type as your AMS augers or samplers . See Connection Types for more information.
  • Environmental Bucket Augers
  • Environmental Reinforced Bucket Augers
  • Environmental Soil Recovery Augers
    Environmental Soil Recovery Augers
Use this soil auger to auger and collect soil core samples at the same time.   The AMS soil recovery auger is a special dual-purpose tool that allows the user to auger an access hole to a desired depth. After reaching the sampling point, the user may then insert a liner into the soil recovery auger to collect a soil core sample. This versatile soil auger AND sampler can be used for soil profiling, particle distribution and environmental site investigations.   Includes: soil recovery auger cylinder with either tungsten carbide hard-surfaced carbon steel or stainless steel bits, a hollow, stainless steel top cap with a bail attached and a stainless steel solid-vented top cap, plastic liner, plastic end caps, and a universal slip wrench. NOTE: Available in stainless steel. But stainless steel bits are not hard surfaced.   Compatible with 5/8" threaded extensions and cross handles. The liners used are 1/4" smaller diameter than the sampler cylinder. Specially shaped auger bits cut and lift the soil into the liner, rather than tearing through the soil.   Please make sure any AMS samplers you intend to use together share a common connection type. See Connection Types for more information.
  • Environmental Soil Core Samplers
  • Environmental Split-Core Samplers
  • Environmental Soil Probes
    Environmental Soil Probes
AMS soil probes are the most basic soil sampling tool for agronomists, geologists, agricultural consultants, farmers and other soil scientists. Like all AMS sampling equipment, AMS soil probes are robust and easy to use. Most are used to collect small diameter samples at or near the ground surface. They allow you to provide a quick soil profile or description, and to determine soil moisture content. Samples may also be collected directly into a liner with some models to allow for later chemical analysis of the soil sample. All AMS probes cut a core sample slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the probe body to allow for easy removal of the core from the cylinder. They are made of nickel-plated or unplated chrome molybdenum type 4130, or are all stainless steel. All probes also feature a heat-treated tip, and replaceable tip options are available.
  • Environmental Soil Sampling Kits
    Environmental Soil Sampling Kits
All stainless steel for environmental sampling.   Used in soils with low levels of contaminants or where equipment will be cleaned using an acid bath technique. Contains the same components as the basic kit but in all stainless. Includes: Regular, sand and mud augers, cross handle, split soil core sampler, slide hammer, three 4' extensions, plastic liner, plastic end caps, wrenches, and cleaning brush in a rugged, foam-padded hard-sided AMS deluxe carrying case with handles and wheels. Deluxe kit also includes: 25 plastic liners, 50 plastic end caps, 50 fluoropolymer swatches for enhanced core sealing and a #2 AMS stainless steel scoop.   Please make sure any accessories you intend to use with your AMS Sampling Kits use the same connection type that are used in the kit. See Connection Types for more information.
