  • Turf Soil Moisture Meters
    Turf Soil Moisture Meters
Turf Soil Moisture Meters provide instantaneous readings of root zone soil moisture. They are based on proven time-domain measurement technology. These portable units accurately measure soil moisture across the full range of soil moisture conditions. Select from the 4.8 or 8-inch (12 or 20-cm) probe rods to suit your desired depth measurement.   TDR 300 Meters connect to any GPS receiver with serial output.* It is equipped with internal data logger and RS-232 port, and can record 3,250 measurements (1,350 with added GPS/DGPS options). You can configure and download meter with the included software. It is also compatible with SpecMaps online web-mapping application. This model also has two volumetric water content modes; one for standard soils and one for higher clay soils. In volumetric water content (VWC) mode, the meter converts a measured electrical signal into percent soil moisture content using an equation valid over a wide range of mineral soils. In irrigation mode, the meter displays a relative water content (RWC) on a scale of 0 to 100 corresponding to a user-defined upper and lower soil moisture reference level. Water deficit, the amount of water needed to bring the soil moisture content up to the upper reference level, is also calculated and displayed. The reference levels are easily programmed into the meter with the accompanying software. Create up to 2 management sites based on your soil types and crop needs. Use the raw reading mode (measurement period in microseconds) to do soil-specific calibrations.   The TDR 100 provides instantaneous readings of root zone soil moisture, and is ideal for measuring containers. The probe block comes with a 5-foot (1.5m) cable. This unique model combines a compact handheld display connected to a sophisticated soil water sensing probe. It is designed for easy transportation without data logging capability or geo-referenced measurements.   The TDR 300 Turf Soil Moisture Meter Kit includes the TDR 300 meter, an AMS Turf Probe, two 4.8in SST Rods, two 8.0in SST Rods, and a soft-sided carrying case.   TDR Rods are sold separately.   *GPS interface requires two cables. The GPS/DGPS cable (item 2950CV5) is available from Spectrum. A PC serial interface cable supplied by the manufacturer of the GPS receiver is also required.
  • Turf Profiler
    Turf Profiler
Collect a replaceable wedge of your sample in one easy step!   The AMS Turf Profiler lets you collect a replaceable wedge-shaped soil sample to assess moisture content, root structure, pest presence or chemical composition for your grass, greens and turf. This all stainless steel, one-piece, grass and turf soil profiler collects a soil sample that is 3 1/2" wide, 1" thick, and up to 7" deep, and it has a detachable plate face plate. It is ideal for obtaining quick, easy examination of the root structure and soil stratification of turf grass. The soil sample can also be easily replaced or properly prepared for later analysis.   AMS also has a variety of soil probes with replaceable tips, and built-in or removable handles and step attachments.
  • Turf Probe
    Turf Probe
Minimize damage to turf with the small diameter turf probe.   The AMS Turf Probe has been designed to collect a 1/2" x 7" soil sample from grass and turf. The small diameter helps you minimize damage to your greens, and the slot of the turf probe allows for easy visual inspection, emptying and cleaning. The one-piece probe is made of nickel-plated carbon steel and has a built-in, corrosion resistant, 10" rubber-gripped cross handle. The sturdy design resists bending and twisting. The heat-treated, oversized tip cuts a soil core that is slightly smaller than the inside diameter of the turf probe to minimize sidewall friction, and the top of the slot is closed to prevent turf, grass, or soil from being trapped or compacted in the upper section of the probe body.   AMS also has a variety of soil probes with replaceable tips, and built-in or removable handles and step attachments.
  • Turf Step Probes
    Turf Step Probes
The AMS Step Probe is the fastest and easiest way to take soil samples as deep as 14" from turf, parks, golf courses or yards. Just apply pressure on the probe by stepping down on the fixed step in order to obtain a 7/8" diameter sample.   These nickel-plated probes are available as either a one-piece or as a two-piece probe. Both offer a 10" comfortably gripped cross handle, but the cross handles on the two-piece models are detachable with a 5/8" threaded connection and a 1" OD. Both are made of heavy wall type 4130 chrome molybdenum steel with hardened tips that cut a soil core 1/2" diameter by about 12" long.   AMS also offers a variety of standard and replaceable tip soil probes that can be used with the AMS adjustable footstep.   More Info: Step Probe
  • Brown Moisture Probe
    Brown Moisture Probe
The AMS Brown Moisture Probe is a modified tile probe used primarily by agricultureal scientists and farmers to survey soil to depths of about 3-ft for the purpose of determining the depth of soil moisture storage following irrigation.   The probe offers visual confirmation of soil moisture conditions, and this data is used to help determine crop yield goals, planting decisions, irrigation water and fertilizer application rates.   The brown moisture soil probe has a modified auger tip and depth markings a 1', 2', and 3' from the tip. The probe is pushed into the soil vertically by hand. It will easily penetrate saturated soils, but not dry soils. The resistance rises as soil moisture content falls. At the end of the push the soil moisture probe is withdrawn. A small soil sample will be trapped in the modified auger flights for visual confirmation of the soil's moisture condition. The probe is made from carbon steel and is 43" long with a built-in 10" comfortably gripped cross handle.   More Info: Brown Moisture Probe
  • Tile Probes
    Tile Probes
Ideal for locating buried pipes, underground tanks or utility lines. AMS tile probes are available in two types of material: 1) high carbon stress relieved 3/8" steel rod or 2) 5/8" fiberglass.   The steel tile probes are available as a one-piece or two-piece unit with a 10" comfortably gripped cross handle (2-piece cross handle is detachable), and an oversized ball tip for sensitivity and easy soil penetration.   The 48" fiberglass tile probe features a built-in 9" fiberglass comfortably gripped cross handle and a 5/8" diameter pointed steel tip. The fiberglass shaft provides some protection from electric shock, should an electric cable be penetrated accidentally.
  • Scoops
    Scoops
Scoops may be used for sampling or compositing. The AMS range of 5 sizes has been the industry standard for this purpose for well over a decade. They feature passivated 300 series stainless steel construction, and they are available with or without a rubber handle.
