PowerProbes

PowerProbes

AMS PowerProbes feature direct push drilling technology and hollowstem augering capabilities.

They have gained widespread acceptance in many industries due to their versatility, relatively low cost, and ease of mobility. Mounted on pick-up trucks, trailers, or tracks, AMS PowerProbe direct push drill rigs are capable of retrieving soil, soil gas, and groundwater samples, as well as conducting a wide variety of environmental and geotechnical drilling activities.

AMS PowerProbes can access areas within buildings or off-road areas, and allow for collection of continuous core or discrete samples. The combination of direct push and hollowstem augering technologies allows for a great deal of versatility and assures completion of comprehensive, complex field work.

Compared to conventional drilling activities, direct push technolog is less labor intensive, offers quicker setup time, and generates significantly less cuttings. It is also quicker and easier to decontaminate and maintain direct push tooling.

    Application and Tooling
AMS PowerProbes and direct push tooling are designed for environmental sampling and monitoring of soil, soil gas, and groundwater. They are also used for remediation investigation and various geotechnical activities. Some rigs also have hollowstem augering capabilities which provide more versatility in the field by allowing for penetration to deeper depths and the ability to conduct direct push activities telescopically through the hollowstem auger. The versatility of AMS direct push tooling provides investigators with a variety of soil investigation options that are effective in sand, tight silt, swelling clay, and small gravels from the ground surface to depths ranging beyond 100 feet below ground surface, depending on lithology. Direct push tooling also minimizes surface and subsurface disturbance by creating only small diameter bore holes. It is the primary method used for installation of small diameter prepacked screen monitoring wells, and also provides quick collection of samples from confirmation borings for site closure.

    9100 Series PowerProbes
The small footprint of the 9100-VTR-D (diesel) makes it ideal for residential areas, tanks, farms, and gated areas. It can also be air-lifted into remote job locations and run by remote control. The 9100-SK uses a portable and maneuverable track system so the probe can be easily removed to allow the use of the accessories on the carrier vehicle such as the bucket, pallet forks, and backfill blade. The 9100-TR is smaller than the 9300-TR, but has the same 90-ft-lb hydraulic hammer. It is mounted on the John Deere 3120 tractor. The 9100-P is designed for use in confined spaces or buildings where a vehicle-mounted probe cannot go. This model is powered by any standard AMS PowerProbe with an auxiliary hydraulic hook-up kit, or the optional AMS portable hydraulic power unit.
  • 9400 Series PowerProbe
    9400 Series PowerProbe
The PowerProbe 9400 Series is our mid-sized PowerProbe. The track-mounted 9410 VTR is compact for limited access areas being 56 inches wide, but maintains great augering (3,000 ft-lb) and direct push drilling (200 ft-lb) power. Fully loaded with all options (winch, SPT Hammer, Direct Push Hammer, and Auger Motor), it has a surface load of only 5.6 psi, which allows you many options in a small area. The hydraulic system is load sensed which allows for better operating efficiency and fuel economy. The front blade tool tote with sample prep tray allows for in the field processing of samples and along with added tool storage so you can take most everything you need from drill location to drill location.   To learn more about the 9400 Series PowerProbe, please contact AMS.
  • 9500 Series PowerProbes
    9500 Series PowerProbes
The PowerProbe 9500 Series combines high-powered direct-push and auger capabilities with operator-friendly engineering. While maintaining some of the same standard features of our larger PowerProbes, the 9500 Series models utilize smaller carrier options that allow for access into tighter areas with less footprint.   The track-mounted 9500-VTR all-terrain model can easily gain access to on or off-road sampling points, and with a surface load of only 4.9 psi, the 9500-VTR can also position on softer surfaces with relative ease.   The 9500-D (Diesel) and 9500-G (Gasoline) models utilize a standalone power source and are most typically Truck-Mounted. With a wide array of Tooling/Supply Storage options, the truck-mounted models allow you to keep your operation mobile for extended periods without support vehicles. The 9500-D also provides for an optional Trailer Mount.   To learn more about the 9500 Series PowerProbe, please contact AMS.
