Heavy Duty Gas Vapor Probe Kits have all of the components included in the regular GVP kits, but with the added benefit of Flighted Augers which allow you to penetrate through rocky and hard soil conditions. There are enough Flighted Extensions included in this kit to pre-bore a hole to a depth of 9'! Heavy Duty GVP Kits also come with a larger 2-1/2” Wild Bore Concrete Bit to allow clearance for the 2” Flighted Augers – should you need to sample beneath concrete. The Lead Auger comes with a Hard Surfaced Tip for regular soil conditions and a Carbide Tip for heavily compacted soil.

Pre-drilling boreholes with Flighted Augers prior to insertion of your GVP equipment will increase the lifespan of those components. Flighted Augers also allow access to sampling in horizontal and vertical angles.

Gas Vapor Probe Kits use an AMS Slide Hammer or an Electric Rotary Hammer Drill and GVP Drive Extensions to insert Stainless Steel GVP Tips to the desired sampling depth. Fluoropolymer Tubing is attached to a barb fitting on the GVP Tip for remote sampling from the surface. Two (2) GVP Tips are available for use with AMS GVP Kits – Gas Vapor Probe Dedicated Tip, and the Gas Vapor Probe Retract-A-Tip. This Heavy Duty GVP Kit contains a SDS Max Rotary Hammer Drill.

Gas Vapor Probe Dedicated Tips are installed as long-term sampling points or left in the ground as expendable points. They are used for detecting hydrocarbon spills, underground storage tank and pipe leakages, landfill contamination, and hazardous waste sites.

Gas Vapor Probe Retract-A-Tips are drove into the soil and opened for sample extraction. Retract-A-Tips are used to collect soil vapor samples below the ground surface, usually at discrete depths. Retract-A-Tips are connected to the surface with Fluoropolymer Tubing.
