Hay & Forage Probes are ideal for obtaining 12" or 24" representative core samples for quick visual inspection and laboratory analysis. They use a 7/8" outer dimension heat-treated serrated tip and chamfered extraction slot. For best results, the sampler should be emptied with the extraction tool after each core has been taken. This will eliminate unnecessary compaction and will provide a more accurate core.
The Basic Hay & Forage Probe includes the probe body, 5/8" Threaded Male to 1/2" Gas Drill Adapter, and Hay Core Probe Plunger. Core samples from this model are emptied into a bucket or sample bag. The Deluxe Hay & Forage Probe includes the probe body, Top Cap with a built in 5/8" Threaded Male to 1/2" Gas Drill Adapter, Hay Core Plunger, 3" X 12" (1 liter) Plastic Liner, two (2) 3” Plastic End Caps, and Liner Stop. The Plastic Liner can hold approximately 20 samples. It is removed by unscrewing the Top Cap with the built-in drill adapter. The sample can be emptied into a bag, or the liner can be sealed with Plastic End Caps and sent to the lab.
The probe body is made of gold-zinc plated chromoly and has a heat-treated serrated tip. Both models require a 1/2" Chuck Drill (24V recommended).
